The No.1 website for musicians
Make the case for your recording app of choice
The MusicRadar Team, Fri 5 Feb 2010, 5:34 pm GMT

It's often said that there is no 'best' DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) on the market, as different types of users prefer to work in different ways.
If you like throwing lots of ideas together quickly, for example, Ableton Live might be your preferred option, but if you want your computer to work as more of a virtual tape recorder, you may have a preference for Pro Tools.
For this Ask MusicRadar, we want you to tell us which DAW you favour and why. We're not going to be too strict on the definition, here - if you use the software to make music in any way (by generating sounds in the box, recording audio, importing samples or a mixture of all these and other methods), you can nominate it.
Tell us about your favourite DAW (or even DAWs) in one of the following ways:
Via MusicRadar (log in and leave a comment below with a link as usual)
Via Twitter (follow @musicradar and tag your submission with #askmusicradar)
Via Facebook (become a fan at http://facebook.com/musicradar and post suggestions on our wall)
Or via ask@musicradar.com (just send an email the old-fashioned way)
Based on your opinions, we'll then come up with a list of the most popular DAWs available today, which we'll present to you in time-honoured gallery fashion.
How about Renoise? Is it interesting? I found that Renoise brings us with new conception for music making.
Am I the first one vote for FL Studio? I love FL deeply, besides another vote for Sonar.
Ableton for me :)
just got 'reaper' to try it out.
sony 'soundforge' is ok to play with.
But Ableton Rocks my world.
cubase rules!!
Reaper 3. Tried most over the years, nothing as intuitive as Reaper (for me anyway). Excellent value! With regular updates. Never let me down.
Cockus Reaper all the way....professional results and incredible value for money...
REAPER is the best. Great pricing.Great quality.Great workflow.I wish I've known about REAPER sooner instead of wasting alot of money on SONAR which had all kinds of strange popping and digital glitches in playback.
based upon all of the comments here i thought i would give reaper a try - had it for half a day - wont be using it again - all kinds of strange popping and digital glitches in playback - not a problem i experience on the same gear with Sonar 8 Producer - I'll be sticking with Sonar, much easier and higher quality and more flexible but yep - Much more expensive - I guess quality haas a price .
logic studio. great EVERYTHING.
and ableton live.
You might as well end this poll now. I love Reaper as well. I do use Ableton Live for some things. Customer Service and a fair price seem to count for something. The big boys could learn a thing or two from Reaper.
