American session guitarist David Williams, who performed with some of the best known names in the business, has died aged 58.

Perhaps best known for playing on many of Michael Jackson's greatest hits, he also played alongside Quincy Jones, the Temptations, George Benson, Paul McCartney, and Marvin Gaye.

As one writer put it, if the average layman doesn’t know David William’s name, everyone everywhere knows his unmistakable sound from the amazing rhythm solo on Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean.”

TG sends its condolences to David's family and friends.
