Ableton to release entry-level Live Intro

It's being reported that Ableton is set to announce Live Intro, a new cut-price version of the company's performance-based DAW.

MacMusic claims that this will replace Live 7 LE, offering more features and content (including a 7GB library of instruments, drum loops, beats and breaks). For the benefit of new users, step-by-step tutorials and song templates are also said to be on the menu.

Getting to more specific features, Live Intro looks set to support audio of up to 32-bit/192kHz quality and give you 64 audio and unlimited MIDI tracks to work with. Automatic mapping of MIDI controllers is said to be in place, as is support for VST and AU plug-ins.

It's believed that Ableton Live Intro will cost €99, with Live 6/7 LE users being able to upgrade for free.
