Oasis' Liam Gallagher slams Kings Of Leon
Kings Of Leon can rest easy. They've just been dissed by one of the Gallagher brothers - Liam, to be exact. Which can mean only one thing: The Tennessee-based band have truly made it.
Oasis' singer made his feelings known during an interview with Rolling Stone, in which he said, "I like Kings Of Leon, but I don't know about this fucking new record. I like the old stuff. When they first come out I was going, 'Who the fuck is this?' They were cool, and now they've all got their sleeves cut off."
Gallagher posited that the band had "sold out" in going for what he described as something of a U2 route.
"It seems to me they've gone for the bucks, man," he said. "I'm not dissing them because I fucking really like them, but it's like they've got this U2 sound and you can do better than that."
While dissing but not dissing Kings Of Leon, Gallagher heaped praise on a couple of other bands, such as Kasabian, who will be supporting Oasis on UK stadium dates next year. "They've got it. They've got the look, the tunes, they say just the right amount of stuff, they don't fucking rub it and rub it and rub it."
Gallagher also had kind words for the music of Arctic Monkeys, although he said that the band weren't true "rock stars."
Perhaps they "rub it" too much.
