Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows auctions drum kit for charity

Ludwig green sparkle 1958 vintage kit for sale on eBay

Razorlight’s drummer Andy Burrows is auctioning his Ludwig green sparkle 1958 vintage drum kit to raise funds for Naomi House – a hospice for terminally ill children in Winchester, UK.

The kit, which Burrows describes as his “favourite of all time”, is known as a Club Date – vintage drum fans will recognise the rare transitional Ludwig badges, which were only used around 1958-59. The eBay listing claims that this particular kit might have once belonged to Dave Mattacks (drummer for Paul McCartney, Elton John, Brian Eno and countless others).

The kit also features prominently on the bands second album (Razorlight), both on the recording and on the artwork.

Naomi House is hoping to raise enough money to build a new special wing for teenagers called Jack’s Place. And as if selling his prize set-up wasn’t enough, the Razorlight man is also releasing his debut album The Colour Of My Dreams and performing a one-off gig at London’s Union Chapel on 28 May in support. Johnny Borrell and Guillemots' Fyfe Dangerfield have also agreed to play alongside.

The auction ends on 26 May and the winner can take possession after the gig.
