cant believe the epi les paul studio didnt make the list. I got mine for £249 and it plays like a dream. Oh well, mabye next time =)

Would be interesting to see some suggestions that are a little bit more left field. Like jazz guitars or rockabilly!

well, that depends on what kind of music you're playing..
there are lots of good "all rounders" though...like epiphone les pauls and strats. -
any Ibanez RG series up to the value of 300 squid
