Acoustic Guitar Show, Cheltenham

The Acoustic Guitars Show is a new event which offers you the chance to see and play the best British, American and Australian instruments. Held at Cheltenham Townhall September 8-9, the show will be an opportunity to see how a guitar is built, meet the makers and maybe even play your dream axe in one of the show's demo rooms. For those on a more limited budget, there´s the chance to snap up a six-string bargain too.

Masterclasses and seminars will be held every day and will include, Choosing a Guitar, Open Tunings, Live Guitar: Pickups and Mics, Arranging for Two Guitars, Slide Guitar Techniques, Blues Guitar, and Contemporary Acoustic Approach.

Some of Britain´s top guitarists will perform on the live stage, playing a bunch of styles from classical to blues. Artists confirmed include Amrit Sond, Pete Smith and Chris Williams, Kevin Brown, James Chadwick and TG writer (and editor of our sister mag Guitar Techniques) Neville Marten. Evening concerts will feature Trio Gitano Collective, Acoustic Madness, Megson and Hummingbird.

The show will open from 10.30 to 5.00pm both days. Daytime tickets are £5 in advance, £7 on the door, and are available from the box office on 08700 424038.
