Possibly the best name for a drum event... ever!

For those of you with drum friends in the States, make it your mission to inform them about Woodstick 2007. Taking place on 27 October at the Puyallup Fairgrounds in Washington, the day will focus on an attempt at breaking the current Guinness world record for most drummers playing at the same time, which stands at 533! Celebrity drummers taking part include Alan White (Yes, John, Lennon, Eric Clapton), Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Jeff Beck, Heaven & Hell), Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal), Michael Shrieve (Santana, Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger), Scott Mercado (Candlebox), Tony Coleman (BB King), Ricky Jones (The Wailers), Jeff Kathan (Paul Rogers, Sir Mix A Lot) and Michael Derosier (Heart).

The event will also raise money for hearing regeneration, local school music programs and Network Tacoma, a non-profit organisation that helps displaced homeless families. Most of the money raised at Woodstick comes from pledges raised by participants. The person who raises the most pledges will win an all maple, seven piece Mapex kit complete with Sabian XS-20 cymbals and a Gibraltar rack valued at $4,400! Every participating drummer at Woodstick will automatically be entered to win a five-piece Pacific maple kit with Sabian XS-20s!

Head to www.woodstick2007.com to find out how to participate and find out what you could be walking away with in the grand raffle!
