Former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore and Rage Against The Machine frontman Zach De La Rocha have announced details of their new collaborative project, One Day As A Lion. With the duo´s first EP reportedly due out on 21 July, the pair are already talking the project up as “a defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It´s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask.” We couldn´t agree more.
The band´s moniker is taken from the subject of a famous photo by Chicano photographer George Rodriguez of a framed tag that reads ‘It´s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.´ For more information (and further explanations, we presume) keep your eyes and ears on Rhythm magazine and www.myspace.com/onedayasalion.
