The 18th annual Chicago Drum Show, which took place last month at the Kane Country Fairgrounds in St Charles, Illinois, a few miles west of downtown Chicago, has reported a record crowd, who turned out for the weekend of exhibits, clinics and masterclasses. The 2008 clinician roster included up-and-coming Welsh drum sensation Gail-Louise, Chip Ritter, ‘Rakalam´ Bob Moses, Carmine Appice, Buddy Rich protégé Donny Osborne, Matt Wilson, Billy Ward and recent Rhythm interviewee Cindy Blackman. Masterclasses were headed up by Ritter, Appice, Osborne, Moses and Ward
“I was pleased with virtually every aspect of the show,” says organizer Rob Cook. “Paid attendance was up a bit over 2008, exhibitor participation showed the biggest single-year increase ever, the new Masterclass program was very successful, and we had a very strong clinic program.”
The 2009 Chicago Drum Show is set for 16 and 17 May 2009. Watch this space and www.chicagodrumshow.com for details.
