Acceptance, love & respect (“A.L.R.”)
These three concepts stayed foreign and unclear to me, for majority of my adult life and all of my childhood. For 27 years I’ve been on a journey to find these three things, to find ALR, Angelica Love Ross. My purpose in life and as an artist & musician is to find a place of acceptance, love & respect within myself and not from the outside world. My journey to ALR is documented in my music, pieces of my fictional stories, and all of my autobiographical material, as well as my photography. It is my belief that my art synonymous to my life will reach those who have been looking for the same things.
When I was young I knew exactly what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be. I wanted to write poetry and sing, and act. I imagined myself living the artist life, in some spacious studio that bathed my spirit with its morning sunrises and it’s soothing sunsets. I imagined rising and falling each day with a sense of accomplishment that I had fed my soul that day, and that my life was music to my ears.
