About me

Based on the South Coast of England I grew up listening to a fairly wide range of music. In short... on my dad's side alot of old Rat Pack, Tommy Steele and other jazzy bits n bobs. On my mum's side everything from the Beatles to Neil Diamond and much inbetween.I had the obligatory recorder lessons at school and then the flute which i got pretty good at although not graded and still play around with for ideas. I play Keys/piano but not so much nowadays. My music tastes changed rapidly when i left school at 16. Hanging out with older friends i soon got caught up in the early Rave scene in the UK. Moved to London age 17. Discovered clubbing and the now legendary Labrynth (Dalston Lane) where in 1995 i started Dj'ing. Playing what everyone now calls Old Skool and a fair bit of underground trance/techno. Basically, whatever made people wanna dance. I've been Dj'ing for about 15 years though in total and 4 or 5 years ago decided to teach myself Cubase which i now know inside-out, upside-down and back-to-front. Went on to learn a big chunk of Reason and in the last year been heavily into Ableton Live. I produce allsorts of music. Not strictly sticking to any particular genre but if i had to put my finger on one then it would almost certainly be Drum n Bass (swinging towards the liquid side of it as i'm gettin a bit bored with the mainstream club aspect these days). I dabble in live recording of Bands and got quite heavily into vocals this last year but i'm still very much a novice with regard to the processing of them. I try to listen to everything the musical community can throw at me with an un-biased opinion cos there's many a suprise when you least expected it... That's about it for now but i'll be sorting out my page a bit more over the coming weeks when i find time. Peace.

  • Hey alibaba30, hope you are enjoying the site...

  • No problems, been in several meetings recently to finalise how we're going to change these profiles. They need work, but the planned changes should really get things moving around here! I'll keep you posted...

  • Hi alibaba30, welcome to MusicRadar.
To answer some of your soundboard posts...
Gear - we are working on allowing you to add your own gear because we understand the selection we have is too limited.
Profile pic - this was working fine but some changes to the edit profile section broke a connection to the database. It's fixed now as you have already discovered.
The next phase for us is to bring the profile sections out of beta. A few changes will take place in the coming weeks - all for the better I hope!
    Cheers,
    Tom

  • Woohoo, profile bugs fixed!!!! Nice 1

  • And why can some people upload profile pics but by the look of it most people can't. I've tried every file type there is and it won't even accept a 32kb Jpeg. Madness

  • Well, i dunno what's up with the searches for gear but i got alot more than is listed... seems a bit crazy that you can't just type in the gear you own instead of searching through a very limited library. I guess that will come in time...
