iZotope’s iDrum has been keeping budget-conscious Mac beat-makers entertained for some years now, so we’re pleased to be able to report that the software is now PC-compatible as well.

The program bears more than a passing resemblance to Apple’s GarageBand, with kit parts being displayed as tracks on the left and a programming grid showing on the right. It comes with hundreds of samples and patterns and is fast and easy to use.

As well as being a great self-contained drum tool, iDrum can also be expanded. You can fill it up with your own AIFF and WAV drum samples, and creating your own patterns is simple.

iDrum can be used standalone or as a VST, Audio Units, RTAS or MAS plug-in. It costs $70/£39.

You can find out more and download a demo at the iZotope website.
