Calvin Harris wins NME award, still not invited to ceremony

Calvin Harris: laid back? Nope
Calvin Harris: laid back? Nope

So the NME Awards 2009 happened last night. Very nice. Dizzee Rascal took home Best Dancefloor Filler for Dance Wiv Me - a well deserved prize. But isn't the NME forgetting something?

Calvin Harris plays a rather large part in the tune element of that tune… but he wasn't even invited to the show.

"What kind of award ceremony has you win an award yet still doesn't invite you?" rants Harris via Twitter. "Would you have loved Dance Wiv Me with no music? When's the last time an accapella [sic] got to no.1? fucking Caravan Of Love."

Even Rascal, who proudly accepted the award on the night, chose to big-up his table of protégés (Newham Generals) instead of Harris and second collaborator Chrome. It wasn't until safely backstage that he remembered: "I forgot to big-up Calvin Harris and Chrome. I was a bit excited up there but I just want to send my love out to them every time."

It's all too late for Calvin Harris, though. He's still ranting.
