Apple 4GB iPod Shuffle on sale today?

Store downtime sparks rumours

Apple's online store is currently down, which could mean that new products are imminent.

We hadn't heard of any new hardware or software being in the launch cannon, but MacRumors is reporting that we might be getting a 4GB version of the iPod Shuffle today.

It believes that the device could be available in "black, silver and possibly other colours".

The current iPod Shuffle ships with 1GB and 2GB capacities and is offered in five different colours.

Apple updated its Mac mini, iMac and Mac Pro computers last week.

UPDATED: The Apple Store is back up and the new iPod Shuffle is on sale.
