Top 10 songs to get your motor running
The MusicRadar Team, Fri 23 May 2008, 12:27 pm UTC
With an apparent lack of any roadkill irony, the UK’s drivers have voted The Killers as the top band to listen to while driving.
A poll of 1000 drivers by insurance company elephant.co.uk – yeah, MusicRadar really trusts their musical savvy, obviously – put The Killers’ Mr Brightside at the top of a poll of ultimate driving songs. Whatever a ‘driving song’ actually is?
In fact a ‘driving song’ appears to be - with the exception of Mr Brightside - just old music. Some of it rubbish. The Top 10 driving songs in the poll are:
1 The Killers - Mr Brightside
2 Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero
3 Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
4 Don McLean - American Pie
5 Guns N' Roses - Paradise City
6 Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
7 Cyndi Lauper - I Drove All Night
8 Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger
9 Stealer's Wheel - Stuck In The Middle With You
10 Wilson Pickett - Mustang Sally
With that soundtrack, is it any wonder there’s so much mayhem on the UK’s roads? Tip for musicians, though – go '70s-'80s AOR and you’ll be sure to get at least some plays in the UK’s family cars. Put your foot down and tell us: what do you like to drive to?

Sorry, but this is wank. GnR ans Survivor are the only good ones. The best ever has to be More Than A Feeling by Boston. that has to be a perfect driving song.
My own favorites: Queen - Don't stop me now, Biffy Clyro- Living's a problem..., My Chemical Romance- Teenagers, Extreme- get the funk out, Rodrigo y Gabriela - Orion, Aerosmith- Love in an Elevator, Satch- Crowd Chant, G'n'R- Paradise City, Toto- Hold the Line (+ anything by Steve Lukather), John Cougar Mellancamp- Jack and Diane. Agree with guitargeek62, surprise not to see any Meat on that list.
excuse me but, why is meatloaf not on that list at all?
