Line 6 has launched new POD Farm and POD Studio software and hardware that looks set to supersede its current GearBox and TonePort lines.

On the hardware front, the new POD Studio GX, UX1 and UX2 USB audio interfaces seem pretty much identical to their TonePort predecessors other than a moodier all-black colour scheme. Click here for the individual specifications.

On the software side, POD Farm's carousel-based GUI looks simple enough for even the crustiest old technophobe to grasp, with a library of modelled amplifiers, preamps and effects available to drag and drop into the virtual signal chain.

Bundled with the POD Studios, POD Farm is also available as a standalone plug-in in AU, RTAS and VST formats.

The basic version of POD Farm includes 18 guitar amps, 5 bass amps, 6 mic preamps and 29 stompbox and studio effects. The expanded Platinum version expands the palette to include a massive 78 guitar amps, 28 bass amps and 97 stompbox and studio effects.

We can't wait to try it out…
