CF Martin & Co has reached its 175th anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, the company has announced several new artist models at the NAMM 2008 show, including limited edition and signature guitars of Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, Ben Harper and Rosanne Cash.
Models include:
000-42M Eric Clapton Limited Edition
There will be 250 of the new Clapton model, a guitar that boasts a new tonewood combination in the form of a Carpathian spruce top and Madagascar rosewood back and sides.
D-28M Elvis Presley Commemorative Limited Edition and D-28 Elvis Presley Commemorative Edition
Martin are offering 175 of the D-28M, a dreadnought based on Elvis' original D-28 that he used at the peak of his career. D-28M will feature Madagascar rosewood back and sides, an Adirondack spruce top and Adirondack spruce braces, which Martin says will deliver "brilliant, powerful tone." The guitar is also shipped with a replica of Elvis' tooled leather guitar cover. An unrestricted version, the D-28 is also available, sporting a Carpathian spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides.
We're also promised a D-41 Porter Wagoner Custom Edition, an HM Ben Harper Special Edition, OM-28M Roseanne Cash Signature Edition, an OMC-18 Laurence Juber Custom Edition, and an HJ-38 Stefan Grossman Custom Edition.
Prices are yet to be announced, but we don't expect them to be particularly cheap. More details on the CF Martin & Co website.
