Metal Amp Room delivers "brutal" guitar tones

Softube´s Vintage Amp Room plug-in was designed to help guitarists achieve a classic tone, but, as its name suggests, the company´s new Metal Amp Room processor is a harder-edged affair.

Co-developed with Patrik Jensen of Swedish thrash/metal outfit The Haunted, the new plug-in offers the same continuous mic placement as its predecessor but ups the ante by featuring twin mics with adjustable stereo panning. This is said to enable the creation of a wide range of sounds.

Unlike some of its rivals, Metal Amp Room doesn´t offer a multitude of components. There are just two channels, two cabs, two mics per cabinet and a noise gate.

Available now in VST, AU and RTAS formats for Mac and PC, Metal Amp Room costs $179 (excluding VAT). It can be purchased now from the Softube website, where you´ll also find further information and a demo version.
