PRESS RELEASE: Future, the special-interest media group, has announced the appointment of Chris Barnes as the new Editor of its monthly drumming title, Rhythm.

Working on Rhythm since 2004, Chris joined Future to become Staff Writer on the title. Developing his role on the market-leading magazine, Chris has worked his way through the editorial ranks - becoming Features Editor in 2006 and was promoted to Deputy Editor in 2008.

As Editor, Chris reports directly to Rhythm's Associate Publisher Rob Last - and is briefed to continue building on Rhythm's successful redesign, working closely with the industry to attract new drummers.

Chris will sharpen Rhythm's editorial focus on the core drumming topics, whilst ensuring Rhythm strengthens its links with Future's online network for musicians, MusicRadar.com - to be the UK's only drumming magazine with dedicated internet presence.

Chris Barnes, Editor of Rhyhm, said:

"I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to take the helm of Rhythm. Having worked on the magazine for more than five years I have come to know the magazine inside and out whilst observing the changes and developments within the drum industry."

"I'm particularly looking forward to working with Rhythm's passionate and talented team, and the industry as a whole, to build on the magazine's already sterling reputation as a first class publication for drummers."

Rob Last, Associate Publisher for Future's music-making portfolio, added:

"Chris was the stand-out applicant for this important role on Rhythm. He lives and breathes music and has shown real commitment to Rhythm and his passion for drumming. Chris is incredibly well-known and respected by the industry, which led to glowing endorsements from many key figures supporting his application."

"With passion and some exciting ideas to drive the magazine forward, Chris was the only choice to develop Rhythm and the MusicRadar.com drum channel in a competitive market for music-making media."
