It's What He Would Have Wanted: Supergroup tribute to Dimebag

This year the US Ozzfest will be just a one-off one-day event, but egg thowing extrordinaire and festival organizer Sharon Osbourne is planning something extra special.

The metal show - to be held at the ludicriously-named Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on 9 August - will include a special all-star tribute to late Pantera/Damageplan guitar icon ‘Dimebag´ Darrell Abbott.

The tribute to Dimebag Darrell band will feature Dimebag's brother and former band mate, Vinnie Paul, Kerry King (Slayer), Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez (Alice in Chains), King Diamond, Scott Ian and Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Kirk Hammet (Metallica), Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed/Kingdom of Sorrow), Chad Gray (Mudvayne/Hellyeah) and Bob Zilla (Damageplan/Hellyeah).

Unsurpisingly the motley crew will be performing a set that will include many Pantera classics.

“When we decided on Dallas as the site for this year´s Ozzfest, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to ‘Dimebag´ Darrell since it was his hometown,” said Ozzfest founder and fomer X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne. “´Dimebag´ was a part of our Ozzfest family and everyone in the metal community misses him dearly.”
