Waldorf Largo
Waldorf Lector
Waldorf Micro Q 'Phoenix'
Bought just used one with 250€ and when i made some intensive editing couple hours it tilted two times.
It's OS version was 1.04. So, i updated it to 1.15 and i have worked fluently ever since.
Next thing i did was that i bought Sample license SL to it. Cost 99€ more but now i have instant power drum machine as well!
I already uploaded TR-707 drumkit to it with Spectre (Waldorfs sample uploader) and now i'm learning the new posibilities.. and that is gonna take some time!
Previously i have owned MicroQ, Q and XT. Sold Q's and now i still have Blofeld and XT.
Couple things i miss in Blofeld is XT's unique filter types and ability to edit stereo balance of separate samples in drumkit instruments. Also sending to different efx bus would be awesome.
Still though this little shortcomings this machine gives extremely good bang for the buck.
Especially when comparing older synths. One positive new comer with lots of potential seems to be Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 -and probably everything that he makes from now on. But that's another story!
I give Blofeld 5 stars because of their comeback after short time when company went down.
And their effort to bring new instrument which pretty much combines all earlier models parameters to one affordable product.
And if they continue to fine tune Blofelds OS it might get even better!
After some time when they might not get any new ideas how to improve it i would take Blofeld XT version as welcomed new product! 50 knobs or so. ;)
The 5th star is missing because of the only con on this incredibly smart and wonderful sounding thing is the lack of connectivity options.
Other than that, this is a stunning piece of synth with possibilities that could baffle you. Its unbelievable how all that stuff has been packed into this tiny thing!
I haven't, for a moment, had a second thought after I got my hands on this. It's a marvel. And at this price, it still manages to give some super-expensive synths a run for their money, and even does a few things more!
An amazingly versatile synth, you'll find nothing like this in this price range unless you're willing to go software. This thing never ceases to amaze me - a year on and I see no reason to get another synth. Sure it has it's own sound, but it can do pretty much anything and the Modulation Matrix and drive curves are plain awesome! A Waldorf marvel.
