I think the Yamaha arranger keyboards are pure genious. I have owned a lot of other arranger keyboards, but my first Yamaha was the PSR-2100 which I have now had for more than 4 years, and I am still not tired of it. I could spend pages writing about the features I like, but I'll stick to just one feature that I really love ... the Multi-Pad ... It's like having an additional 4 musicians with me that I can get to play any backing I need. I have the PSR-S900 on my wishlist, but I recently bought the Yamaha Motif XS6, and is now trying to learn to use this wonderful workstation.
This is an updated version of the now-defunct instrument that I cut my teeth on. I have had three Yamaha instruments, and would never have another. The first became restricting after a couple of months. Without being rude, I would advice you NEVER to buy a Yamaha of any type. They look and sound okay at first blush, but let you down soon after. If you want a solid first keyboard, go for a Casio. That's what I chose third time around, and I'm very glad I did. They don't look as flash, but tone and playability are much better.
