A pretty impressive guitar that handles very well straight from the box. No tuning issues other than those you'd normally expect when using trem, but very easily remedied by a simple return pull of the trem, lubing saddles, nut, pre-stretching strings, etc. No problems with string spacing / slippage, nor fret wear during or after constant playing since purchase in early September '07.
Single coil hum is part and parcel of the single coil phenomena and much the reason behind humbucker development, but the PAC112v produces surprisingly little hum when played cleanly or through effects.
This is a very well made guitar with inherent qualities that defy such extremely competitive pricing. Very capable of producing sounds to suit most tastes and playing levels/experience

Yeah, its OK,,and it's a good price ..but you DO get what you pay for, to be honest it's OK for a beginner, but an intermidiate player will very soon start to pick holes in it. Reviewers in magazines, to be fair and with all due respect, don't get long enough with a guitar to really give an acurate reveiw, it's very much a 'first' impression thing. Owning one is quite different I thought Mine was great for the first few months, but then all the niggily things started to creep in, tuning stability problems for one, even after very light use of the trem bar, dreadful Hum on the single coils, the way the first string sometimes slips off the fingerboard which could be due to either the neck shifting or the nut cuts not being in line, the fret wire too will show signs of ware quite early on. Lets be honest here ,Yamaha have had to cut a few corners to offer a guitar with these specs and a solid alder body for less than £200.00 and after a short while these rise to the surfice, a good guitar for the price and the beginner but if your looking for a good solid dependable guitar for gigging etc you may have to raise your budget and concider something a little more expensive.

Pros

Design; build quality; modern sounds; versatility; consistency

Cons

We would have liked a more substantial upgrade to the vibrato

The bottom line

The Pacifica 112V remains not only the perfect start-up guitar for the serious student, but also a solid, reliable choice whatever your age or ability
