I own a 2006 Les Paul Standard Premium Plus 50ties Neck Heritage Cherry Sunburst. I loved this guitar when I bought it, but I must say that love has cooled down since then. I still love the sound of it, especially when it comes to singing rock solos. But as stated below, the chrome bits tarnished very quickly, and the finish at the back has become dull due to sweat, although I wipe my guitar everytime I use it. That's not the case with my other guitars. Finally, the frets on my model are almost square-cut, not nicely rounded, which makes it difficult to play fast. I'm not sure whether I am going to keep it. However, I still haven't got a good replacement for it. Maybe I'll have a look at Tokais, as MattThorpe indicated.

I've had my 1990 GibLPS since 1995 and gigged and recorded with it continuously to recent times. The unmistakable tone and playability the feeling of connection when playing live, the legendary appeal, going through many crap copies in the 1970's. End of last year I bought a Tokai Made In Japan LS150F and upgraded the pickups to Gibson BB#3 and DiMarzioSDHB and the result is an amazing guitar for half the price that does everything and more than the Gibson. More sustain, faster fretboard, beautiful AAA flame sunburst. Sorry but the Gibson dream ended and I woke up!! I'll be buying a second Tokai very soon as a spare for gigs. My Gibson stays at home now.

The Les Paul was always my dream guitar and when I finally got one I wasn't disappointed. The tone is fantastic and it looks fantastic. I had a Tokai Love Rock until I could afford one and the difference in sound and particularly sustain massive. I've also got a Fender Deluxe HSS Strat, but the Les Paul is my number one guitar. There's nothing like the real thing!

I've had my standard for two years now and love it. It's the guitar I always wanted so I tried about 30 different guitars before settling on the Goldtop finish with a '60's neck. For some reason it had the best 'feel' and sound, although all the others I tried were supposedly the same except for the finish.
After a while all the chrome bits tarnished which seriously pissed me off. I have a Pearl Les Paul copy for 24 years and that's still shining away! The toggle switch is very poor quality; it keeps coming loose and spins around in the chamber when I try to tighten it so I might replace it.
Still, I'd never replace it. The tone blows me away. I don't mind the weight as I've only ever played guitars that weigh slightly less than a Ford Granada. I just wish Gibson would sort out their quality issues...

Totally dissappointing, way too heavy, paint job is fractured , condensation under the headstock, pick-ups tarnish if U breath on them, input jack loose from day 1, fret board dry as a nuns' ..... . If it wasn't 4 the unmistakable trademark indescribable LP tone I would've sold it ages ago .

Mine's a double cut body type... humbuckers/burstbuckers... beautiful finish on the body/neck and beautiful golden hardware. The case is sweet, too. i'm not a guitar player, per se, but i hope to become at least as handy with one as i am with keys after a decade of playing this...

Just bought a Les Paul goldtop. 60s neck with burstbucker pros. I went in for a honey burst but the gold top just blew it away. I've primarily been a strat player for as long as I can remember, but recently had been looking for a warmer tone. This thing is totally awesome, a superb neck and warm balanced tone. Fantastic
