SEMI ACOUSTIC ARTCORE HH. With a 22-fret set mahogany neck, bound rosewood fretboard and pearl dot inlays, the Ibanez Artcore AS73 Electric Guitar dishes out satin-smooth tone and sweet sustain.

This a great guitar and really good value for money (even better a few years ago when I got it, but still well worth it now). The finish on mine is almost faultless (just one little smear of something under the finish on the binding) and quite remarkable for a guitar in this price range. The neck is perfect, fast, smooth well finished frets, easy access to the top frets. Tuning took a while to settle but is fine. I find it one of my most comfortable guitars to play the semi-hollow body making it relatively light, and the angled neck sort of wraps the guitar around you making playing easier (when I switch to my tele I always notice it digging into my ribs). I love chrome hardware too, I tend to react with gold finishes and the cheaper finishes wear off very quickly. All the hardware is very good quality as I've found with Ibanez generally. The only change I have made, which I highly recommend as it changes the guitar from good to superb, is to drop a set of vintage voiced alnico pickups in. The stock ACH pickups are OK, but an upgrade makes this guitar really sing and roar, smooth with the complex overtones that only come from a semi. I use this guitar a lot when I am gigging - it is perfect really, not expensive enough to worry about, but with the playability, robustness, reliablity and sound to make it a joy to use.
