The No.1 website for musicians

This is actually one I had done for my wife and it's fretless. God knows how she plays it - I can't, but hen I ws never brought up on the cello as she wass. Well, being a retired piano tuner at least I can tun it the same way I do any other guitar (by listening to interference paterns or'beats' between pairs of strings and making them cycle at the correct frequency for that interval). The guitar is loud enough for practice purposes but she usually usews it with the multi-pin output connected to our Roland GR33 guitar synth. I have to admit that I wouldn't be displeased with a fretted version for myself since I love playing nylon strings and I can no longer cuddle a classical style guitar because my right arm doesn't work properly. I have heard people say that Godin's quality control isn't up to much and you can get the odd guitar coming through with basic faults in the material. You may be sure that I closely examined our one as soon as I took it out of its perfectly fitted case and all it's wooden parts are perfectly straignt-grained and faultless. The unvarnished ebony fingerboard is just as good as you would expect on a first quality classican guitar and the slightly closer together strings ans marginally smaller scale make it an easy player despite the flatness of the fingerboard. Tell you what, if you put the GR33 on fretless bass patch and drop the pitch an octave it's serviceability as a bass stand in when I busk along with my keyboard playing friend (who used to entertain on cruise ships before he retired) certainly makes the residents' association Christmas party and summer barbeque go with a swing.
