Universal Audio Plate 140 $149

Plate reverb doesn’t suit everything, all the time, but it’s definitely an indispensable effect for any musician’s toolbox. That’s why every reverb unit, whether software or hardware, includes a plate simulation -- and the Plate 140 is one of the best you'll hear.

Manufacturer's description

Universal Audio “steps up to the plate”, rendering another classic tool for the DAW: Introducing the Plate 140 Plug-In. German company EMT made a breakthrough in 1957 with the release of the EMT 140, which utilized a resonating metal plate to create ambience. Nothing is quite like the wonderfully lush and distinctive tone of plate reverb that still endures as part of the fabric of modern music. However, plate reverb systems are expensive, bulky, need to be isolated from vibration and maintained regularly-therefore plates are usually found only in major studios. Universal Audio accurately recreates that unmistakable sound with the Plate 140 Plug-In. The Plate 140 replicates the sonic signature of three uniquely different EMT 140s installed at The Plant Studios in Sausalito, CA. That’s nearly two thousand pounds of sound in one plug-in! The GUI is closely based on real plate system components with additional controls for DAW users. Impractical or impossible for most before, Universal Audio once again brings classic analog tools within the reach of everyone.
