This is a great hard working amp. I bought mine in 1997 nearly new from a bloke who had it for 2 or 3 days before hurting his back. It's crazy heavy!
Clean is what you expect from fender, the drive channel is great too but quite sedate. No metal here. Think of the solo from the eagles 'one of these nights' and you are probably about there. The EQ on the drive channel doesn't offer masses of tonal range - its more useful for tweaking out differences between guitars/rooms than creating scooped thrash or lo-fi treble.
Having only one drive channel and no solo/boost feature is actually a bit of a blessing cos it teaches you how to use the volume on your guitar - you quickly get used to using the volume to create clean/crunch/lead tones which i think helps keep the guitarist more in control of the tone and volume that a foot switched Clean/Crunch/Filth arrangement!
Round the back there are loads of in's and outs for every situation. The 1/4 power switch isn't much use cos it's still got tons of headroom and you have to push it like mad to get the clean channel to break up and the drive channel seems to operate normally no matter what power setting you chose.
I have had this amp for 10 years and its probably done 1000 gigs in that time - everything from duo gigs in quiet country pubs to big outdoor gigs. It has never gone wrong except for the odd valve or fuse.
It's going to be retired soon cos i love it and its done its time as my main amp. Gotta rate this one 5 out of 5
