New Mac mini coming in March?
First it was being axed, then it was being relaunched in January 2009, and now – if reports are to be believed – a new version of Apple's Mac mini will be announced in March.
Tom's Hardware has reason to report that the new machine will be built around NVIDIA's recently-announced Ion platform, which uses Intel's 1.6GHz Atom 300 processor and GeForce 9400M integrated graphics (the same as you'll find in the MacBook and MacBook Pro).
There's also speculation that the revised Mac mini will be even smaller than the existing model, which itself is pretty tiny.
Perhaps the biggest question, though, is how much Apple intends to charge for the machine (if indeed it's actually in the pipeline)? Our feeling is that the Mac mini will have to be pretty affordable if it's to compete in these tricky financial times.
If it is, then it could be a good option for musicians who want a cheap way of getting their hands on a system that ships with the 2009 version of GarageBand.
