Computer Music releases free iPhone app

For over ten years, our sister magazine Computer Music has been giving you music-making software that you can use in your studio. Now it's entered the mobile marketplace and is offering you a free tune-crafting app for your iPhone or iPod touch.

Computer Music: Make Music Now, Volume 1 is available now from Apple's App Store. This gives you a collection of sampled loops to manipulate and remix via an intuitive touch-controlled six-track audio sequencer.

Operation of the app is easy: simply drag your chosen sounds onto the arrange page, then resize, copy, layer and mix them to create your own track. If you want to edit the loops themselves, you can use the innovative Clip Masher to slice and rearrange them as you see fit.

Commenting on the launch of the app, Computer Music editor Ronan Macdonald said: "We're really excited to be making our App Store debut with CM: MMN 01, the first in a series of fun and easy-to-use music toys built on the exclusive samples we give away on the CM cover DVD every month.

"It's free and small enough to download over 3G or Edge, so go get it!"

Computer Music: Make Music Now Volume 1 is the first app to be built on Hige Five's Pocket Remix engine. We'll let you know as and when more are released.
