PMT buy Sound Control stores

But further stores are shutting

Professional Music Technology (PMT), the five-store retailer with its head office in Southend, Essex, has confirmed it has bought “a number” of Sound Control stores. Sound Control went into administration in late April, and immediately closed 10 stores and laid-off 166 employees.

Simon Gilson of PMT would only confirm that his company has bought "a number" of the Sound Control stores, with trade journal MI Pro claiming “that it is in the region of three”.
Meanwhile, John Reid and Bill Dawson - the administrators for the Sound Control Group appointed by Deloitte & Touche LLP - have released a statement concerning the closure of a further four Sound Control stores. Outlets in Dundee, Dunfermline, Newcastle and Stoke are all to close.

John Reid added: "The Administrators will continue discussions with a number of interested parties to explore a possible sale of the (Sound Control) Group’s remaining operations. However, at the same time as they explore sale options, the Administrator will continue to trade the remaining 12 stores, selling high quality musical instruments to the public”.

MI Pro also reports that the Oxford Street store in central London will be closed permanently, as will Turnkey in Soho, though this has yet to be confirmed.
