I really like the first half of the album, but not convinced by the second half.
As guitargeek says, very QOTSA and it would seem Josh Homme has done most of the songwriting, but the first half rocks....the second half I need to listen to more, but there's a few on there that are a bit meh.

Got a ticket for Dec 18th at Hammersmith - after one listen, the album's OK, but it's so compressed that listening in one go is hard work - hoping that there'll be more dynamics live.

Really? Maybe their newest album I wouldnt say its really very representative of qotsa as a whole though.

saw em last night on tv playing some live bash in an NME tent or something, REALLY enjoyed it, except for some of the bass playing from john paul jones which frankly was so all-over-the-shop in places it was embarrassing.

They were on BBC last night - very impressed with JPJ, played keys, lots of odd basses used incl. 8 string too.
Josh Homme and the other guitarist using my beloved Fender Super Reverbs too (probably RI's given the grille cloth patina), with pedals providing the drive tones. Last edited by ZenOvertone : Yesterday at 01:58 PM. |

It does feel very much like some of the desert sessions stuff though.
