Well I've finally gone and bought the Fender Aerodyne thanks to the beagle's advice, and its Japanese made, so fingers crossed it will be a goody! Its had some really good reviews on the net so sure it will be

Excellent.

Now just do the following:

1: Order Status-Graphite neck and throw away the Fender one
2: Throw away the bridge and fit a BadAss
3: Bin the pickups - go with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders and add the East J-Retro circuit / preamp.

Will be lovely then!

There's also a P-Special available. This is a P bass with the split coil pick up and a jazz single coil nearer the bridge. (There's a Squier version too.)

So I went for the aerodyne in the end, its just what I wanted, an awesome instrument, and plays so easily! Cheers beagle! Thanks for all the advice guys really helped
