Where are you getting it for £30? I am also a student
For that price, it is definitely worth it.

how old is the machine you are looking to upgrade?

I upgraded my old pentium Fujitsu pc on Tuesday night and had major problems. It didn't find a driver for my wireless ethernet card. Infact it didn;t even find the device. So my advice is to have XP or Vista copies of the drivers for networking and graphics to hand prior to doing the install.

Once I got past that I have to say I've been very impressed. Going to upgrade my laptop this weekend.

in fact I'd recommend burning a copy of hirens boot cd and making an image of your current install just in case you need to revert back to your previous os.
