Default Some book advice needed

So, I do play quite a bit of guitar but I don't really feel that any practice I do is guided or constructive... I work on my own songs and stuff, but that doesn't seem to be helping my technique or knowledge.

I've heard David Meads 10 minute workout book mentioned a few times, is it any good?

Any other recommendations for books that might help me improve? I mostly play sort of blues based hard rock I guess, so maybe that helps to narrow it down. I know there's millions of books out there but that's the problem, I can't afford to keep buying books til I find a good one

For improving basic technique I can't recommend Troy Stetina - Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar enough. Good for all genres

I'm after a good theory book myself, so I'll keep on eye on this thread too!

Cheers Dafuzz, I'll look into that. It really is basic technique that I'm lacking I guess. I've been playing for a few years now and I don't have much speed or variety in my solos. I pretty much just use the blues scale over everything

If you can find a copy (no longer in print) at a reasonable price

'For Guitar Players only' by Tommy Tedesco is pure gold.
