Possibly deliberate leading users to explore the various advertisements around the site and make purchases

Yes, but it seems to be a different problem every time - I'd hazard a guess that they make changes or try to fix bugs on a Friday without actually testing the code properly. I can't really complain too much, because I did exactly that this morning and fscked a customer site. That said, I fixed it almost as soon as the problem became apparent - it's not how bug-free your code is, but more how you respond to it that counts.

Probably.

I'm out most of tomorrow and, fingers crossed, have a jam session sorted for Sunday. I'll pop by both forums anyway.

Thumbs up Forum update

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd update you on the state of the forum.

Recent downtime has been due to the fact that MusicRadar (I'm told) now receives more traffic than it was originally designed for as we've received large traffic growth over the last year. Our Operations and our Development teams are currently looking at rolling out updates to the forum back-end, vBulletin software, database servers and so on in the near future, which should fix the outages we've been getting recently.

Future has several other large websites, most of which use vBulletin, which have been having the work done too.

Rest assured that fixing recent problems is a high priority matter for us. We've looked at the problems last weekend and they've been sorted, which is why I've voted for no!

First up thanks for taking the time to answer. I'm sure a lot of us wondered what was happening.

I'm a little confused as to Music Radar not anticipating any growth in the site though; it is advertised in at least one of Futures' magazines so did they not already have a contingency plan for site growth?

Cheers anyway.

Oh, naturally, but growth exceeded expectations!

And we never do (unless it's an emergency)!
