Default New hard drive question!

So depending on how the postal strike goes I should be getting a nice new 500gb hard-drive this week.
Should I partition it first or is there no point? Is that easy to do?

If it's just a bare drive and you're putting it into a Windows machine the likelihood is that you'll be asked to create a primary partition anyway.

You will also be gobsmacked at how quickly the thing will fill up.

I've been putting up with 80gb for over a year now, but I think you're right. The ability to never delete anything will ensure I'm shopping for a few extra terabytes in months
