Default Pickup wiring help please.....!

I'm attempting to wire in an Iron Gear Hot Slag into the bridge of my Kramer Explorer.

The Hot Slag is wired like this:

And my Kramer has 1 x vol, 1 x tone (with push/pull for coil tapping I guess?) and a 3 way switch.
I've tried the SD site and wired it the way they suggest but the pickup sounds weedy and really hums. SD also reckon the red and white wires should be together - Iron Gear supply the PU with the green and white connected...? I'm guessing that means they use different coloured wires for different things?

Any help would be welcome!.......

They are the two coils - one is over the north end of the magnet, the other over the south.

yeah, so for the hot slag you will have the red wire going to the toggle switch, green and white joined together and going to the push/pull and the black and bare wires going to a ground point, the back of a pot or something like that

Oooh - in case it's not obvious, you'll also want a ground to the push/pull pot. To split the pickup you connect the green/white wires to either ground (to leave just the North coil sounding) or to red (to leave just the South coil sounding).

Which you want depends on the phase and polarity of your other pickups - if you choose the right one then the position that mixes with the middle pickup will be hum-free.
