Default Is it easy to modify an amp for more midrange and brightness?

I have a Randall RG50TC combo, it has some great features on it, but it does sound a little too dark for my liking, plus it doesn't have enough midrange on it and it could be a bit brighter. I've been told it's very expensive to mod the amp as it has to be re-voiced. I've tried different speakers/valves etc and I reckon buying the amp I want will set me back much more.

Any thoughts?

Get an EQ pedal.

Or an OD pedal that has a prominent mid-hump. Tubescreamer for example.

What guitar/pickups are you using?
Alot of modern pickups are rather dark sounding?
e.g. I've got JBs and BKP Rebel yells on my guitars, great for certain sounds
but found I just couldn't get close to that classic Gibson to Marshall sound.
Stick a PAF style pickup in and suddenly the rig is transformed into a completely
different beast

I have an eq pedal which I boost guitar solos. I don't want the eq on for the clean channel plus I don't really want to tap dance! I also have a od pedal, but that adds too much treble, there's also a certain amount of tap dancing to be done when switching channels. Already tried it didn't like it!! I want all the eq done from the amp. The amp is actually very dark sounding, even with the treble and middle on full it still sounds too dark and too scooped. I don't like scooped guitar sounds even though I lean towards the shreddy end of things. Think Scorpians and George lynch type guitar soounds, that's what I want.

The pickups are fine, every other amp I've had I've had to turn the treble and middle down a tad as it was over bearing. Lets put it this way, our drummer can't hear me and neither can I for that matter!! If I use my KORG AX3000G unit the problem is solved, but being a bit of a tone whore/snob, I know what like if you know what I mean?

I am in very much the same position, trying to screw some treble out of an old amp (at HOME I hasten to add!)

Trouble I have is no spare gain.

If you have gain to spare you can boost, if not, pedals. I see the amp has an FX loop, put an EQ box in there?

Dave.

Already doing it for solo boost. I want the drive channel to be as I want it. I don't want to have to tap dance on eq pedals when swtiching channels. Then there's volume drops and eq differences to contend with. The amp I want will set me back around £1100-£1400, I haven't got that sort of money. Even with the sale of 3 amps I still need to find about £800! If it costs me £300 the it's worth it. And I get my own specced amp!
