Well the summer looks promising, and seeing I didn't get to try it last time I was in Australia (or in the 20 years in which I lived there) I want to have a go at surfing.
Anyone got any experience with surfing in Britain? I'm in London so I'm thinking Cornwall might be more convenient, but is that the spot to go? I'd quite like to do a few lessons or something. Any advice?

Scotland has a great few places, but Cornwall is generally the place to go.

Yep, Cornwall. I went a couple of times at Harlyn Bay, that's where a lot of people seem to go.
But ask around and people will give you hundreds of spots. |

I'd love to do some surfing in Scotland Noodles but I'm not due there until Christmas, and I'm not sure that's the best time of year for it!

At least you'd get large waves.. but it might be a tad chilly. |

I surf quite reguarly, as I live in South Devon. There is some good spots on the North Devon cost (Croyde and Woolcacombe, near Barnstaple) and all along the North Coast of Cornwall, I've probbaly surfed most of them. I go up there every couple of months for a decent session.
If you want lessons best place is to book a 2-3 day session with a decent surf school, obvious place in Newquay as you can then get a few beers in the evening. I'd highly recommend Reef Surf Lodge / Surf School. |

Awesome, cheers Dannyboy. I'll check that out. I've always wanted to go to Devon anyway so that sounds like a good way to go. 2 or 3 days is exactly what I wanted as well.
