Default Lost In Transmission - Ambient... ish

http://www.last.fm/music/RadioElectr...n+Transmission

I made this for my Music Technology course last year. It's based on the idea of having something at a fixed point in space, millions of miles away, picking up our radio/TV broadcasts.

I'd be really excited to hear what you think.

Also, while I'm pimping last fm here are the pages of two of my friends (we collaborate sometimes).

That's pretty cool. I like this kind of thing, but tbh, I would have preferred it without the voice samples etc. as there's certainly some nice textures going on.

Nice though.

wonderful piece of ambience, i like the voice samples but would of had them a bit lower in the mix, the music is just right, love the bass line, maybe add some reverb to it in parts to lose itself in the mix ,then bring it back to the front again, the pads and fx are great. love it. dave

Vocal samples will always result in polarized opinions ... the idea of having a kind of running history was solid given the theme of the whole track.

I thought that something was necessary to give a little depth to thet production, but what I wasn't keen on in the track was the constant jumping between themes. It was schizophrenic - you didn't spend any time on any section before you were blazing off to the next idea/sound. Take your time! Slowly build the themes, let the track breath.

Was that FM8 doing most of the pads?

Pad sounds and drum beats were done in Reason.

Track was arranged in Adobe Audition 2.0.

Also features electric guitar (through some FX pedals, primarily a POG) but my favourite bit in making it was putting the lap steel guitar over it. It's the one I made (see my sig).
