Default Cheapish spray paint?

Where do I go to buy cheap spray paint? B&Q seems to want £6 a can and I don't really feel like paying that much on account of I'm a tight bastard.

Depends what you're painting really. I tend to almost always pay the extra for plastikote as most things it doesn't need a primer and is rock hard after a couple of days.

With the power of Halfords spray paints I turned a white Xbox 360 chatpad into a black one to match the controller it was plugged into.

Was quite fun, I might spray other stuff too...

Wow, that looks like a bloody brilliant job on that Myranda. I couldn't quite figure out what you'd done so I had to google to see what it would've looked like originally. Looks like it came out of the box that way.

Did it involve a fiddly masking tape job or did you pull it apart?

Aye - very nice job indeed.

I resprayed the nasty cream-coloured vent for the kitchen with Halfords stuff and that came out very well too.

I used Halfords paint on the Mirrortop I built. Audi Silver followed by clear lacquer gives you this:

I also use Ford Panther Black for headstocks.

Pulled it apart - using a T6 torx driver
Washed the two pieces in soapy water and rised well
Allowed to dry
Spray
30 mins
Check for imperfections, buff lightly with 250grit paper
Spray...

Did about 5 light coats, then two light coats of clear laquer

One side is slightly too shiney because before spraying I dropped it and put a scratch on it... so had to sand it out... other than that it's a pretty exact match texturewise.

Chuffed with it... no longer looks like someone forgot that they make controllers in 5 colour, consoles in two (and a limited edition one in red or green) but most accessories only in white. Now the only white electronic item in the room is the battery charger for the xbox controller - that may chance if I get a spare afternoon - though you cant take that appart so careful masking is called for
