Default Where to start with FX building?

I've never built any kind of effects before, but I'm interested in giving it a shot. But I have no idea where to start!

Presumably there are books and such out there, but as I know there are a few builders/modders out there, can you give me some advice?

I'm not exactly a soldering wizz, but I'm improving, and I'm quite handy otherwise, having built all sorts of nonsense from ant farms to kites to cigar box guitars

Have a look at my blog in my signature. Have a read and then come back with anything your unsure about.

There's plenty links in their to point you in the right direction.

Aye - Sproky speaks sense. That's a great site.

However, it's US based so you may want to check my site as that'll point you to suppliers for parts in the UK.

Couple of sites I found that were helpfull:

http://samengstrom.com/nxl/10116/5_b...e_page.en.html is handy for working out resistor values if you're not familiar with them. Just bear in mind that they can read either way so try both and see what matches. Probably is a way of telling but I dont know it!

http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/stripbd.htm is full of info about strip boards, soldering, leds etc

Plus Nocaster's pedalbuilder page is really useful so +1 for that.

What's the best way to get kits in the UK then? The majority of websites i've seen are all US based - is that the way to go, and if so, which website do you order kits from?

I've been looking into this for the past couple of weeks now and it's something i'd definately want to try out.
