Default Whats the verdict on Takamine G series acoustics?

I tried a few Takamine G series acoustics the other day and some of them sounded really good and played rather well, i have a hate/hate relationship with my turd of an acoustic Fender plywood guitar and have been looking to upgrade to something not sounding quite like a cardboard box with strings.
I live in Iceland and guitars cost a small fortune here right now so i wont be buying the Gibson Dove i want anytime soon, some of the other mid priced acoustics available in Iceland are Epiphones, Seagulls or Yamahas, i probably wouldnt want anything that said Epiphone on the headstock because im an opinionated twat but im ok with other manufacturers.
I also tried a Taylor Big Baby and it sounded as bad as my Fender if not worse.
Does anyone here have any thoughts on the Takamines? I didnt try it through an amp so i have no idea if the pickups they use are any good but i would probably record it with a microphone anyway.

Used to have a G series dreadnought, forget the model number, it was a discontinued one. I was pretty happy with it until I accidently knocked it off its stand and the headstock came off!

Got it repaired but was never the same. Think it would have cost around £250 - £300 new, paid £100 2nd hand for it. Was nice to play and the unplugged sound was pretty good, was'nt keen on the electro sound though.

Recently replaced it with a Faith Saturn HiGloss which I love. Not sure how easy they are to get in Iceland but I'd definately recommend trying one. Solid top, back and sides, ebony fret board, preamp actually sounds pretty good and the HiGloss models look fantastic. Got mine for under £400 with a hard case but the natural finish ones are a bit cheaper I think.

I bought a G series today! More than happy to exchange the experience...

£200 I paid for it. Was a display model, only one left of the shipment in the store I got it from.

Really nice guitar. I have the EG260C. Basic specs: mahogany back and sides, ivory binding, spruce top (glossy, natural finish), Takamine TP-4 pre-amp. Small-body jumbo I believe (so it's shaped like a jumbo body, and is nowhere near as bulky and is actually less - by a fair margin bulky than a dreadnought as well) so it's VERY comfortable to sit with.

Considering the body size and shape it has a very nice, balanced unplugged sound. I think mine has a tusq compensating saddle & pins too.

Great for £200 considering the woods and the electronics.

Hope that helps.
