Has anybody been watching this? I find it very, very good. You can catch the latest episode which is some sort of "best of" now (apparently Charlie Brooker has injured himself so they couldn't do a normal episode this week). I think it's the kind of thing that everybody should watch.

Here is Charlie Brooker on why he made the program:

That's because when I watch the news, I don't always fully comprehend what's happening. Tuning into the news can be like stumbling across episode 908 of the world's most complicated soap opera; a soap with an immensely labyrinthine plot which has been unfolding for centuries. It's a backstory I'm not familiar with.

Here are the Google Video results for clips from the show:

And a very good section on the reporting of school shootings:

Caught a bit last night. Very deconstructive. Great slating of serial killer coverage.

Yea, check out Screenwipe if you can find it out there (cant be arsed meself ), he did a show for the Beeb which was comment on general media as a whole, rather than just the news as he is doing at the mo. I like his cynicism. Right up my humanity hating street hehe.

I caught Screenwipe a couple of times but I prefer the focus that Newswipe has. Seems like the whole thing is trying a bit harder.

Yeah, Screenwipe is pretty much a televisual version of the Screen Burn columns and other stuff he's done in the Saturday Guardian's TV guide. Newswipe is much more of a well-planned, single piece of work, and is one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. It's also good to see Charlie working with Chris Morris again (CM is the script editor, I think; another former colleague Armando Iannucci is involved somehow as well).
