Default Gibbo Explorer advice on Ebay please...

...Aren't Gothic Explorers supposed to have EMG's??

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=110375842363

So, am I right in thinking that isn't a Gothic??

The 12th fret inlay would indicate it's a gothic.
Looks like the 'plate's been changed though - click.

Edit: he says he changed the 'plate

Good spot on the inlay. I thought the Gothic series came with EMG's but having now used your link it would appear not.

Thanks.

EDIT: Just worked out that it's the Gothic mk2 that has the EMG's as standard.

i think Gibson did 2 runs of the gothic series with only the second run having EMG's.

also, i dont care how much anyone likes metalica, i can see that scratch plate cutting the odd knuckle here and there

All the gothic explorers I've seen have 496R/500T pickups apart from a couple on youtube but I thought they switched the pickups for EMG's

If (and it's a big if) I bid and buy the guitar, changing the scratchplate will be the first thing I do.

It's a bit expensive for a gothic, especially given the condition...

and they say rare or discontinued in the auction heading to make people think its hard to find when if they did a little research they'd probably find loads, I hate that, that and they try to make a profit on postage and packing by quoting more than what it costs to send it.
