Default Couriering a guitar... without a hardcase!?!

I'm selling my tele on ebay and a dude wants me to post it from London to Newcastle. I've not even got a hardcase for it though so obviously I'm not too happy about doing it...

Is there any way I can package it safely or is the general rule just DON'T DO IT!!

Get a guitar box from one of the guitar shops, they always throw them out, a suitable amount of bubble wrap and lots of parcel tape. Lower price guitars hardly ever come with a hardcase and considering guitars are shipped to the stores in those boxes I consider it safe to send them to other people that way!

I would like to think anyone who has received a guitar off me has been happy with the way its been packed, usually much better than when I receive guitars from shops.

just wrap it in a few layers of bubblewrap, the type with the big bubbles. then put it in a sturdy box. fill it out with scrunched newspapers.

you should be able to get a big roll of bubblewrap for about £12.

Occasionally if I don't have an actual guitar box I improvise with some heavy gauge cardboard from work. I also tend to go overboard on the parcel tape.

Also, point out that if they want insurance to the value of the guitar they'll have to pay for it as you won't be held responsible for transit damage.

Bottom line- It takes motor skills and practice to develop fast clean playing but a brain to use it wisely and rock guitarists are still recovering from the 80's.
All in all sound is in the ear of the beer holder

I had one delivered in brown paper once. Amazingly it arrived safely by Special Delivery. When I told the seller that it wasn't the way to send guitars he said he usually sold clothes on Ebay so just packed it the same way.
