Seeing him with a mate on saturday. Is he funny+offensive or maybe just offensive? Opinions?

Both. I have seen him live a couple of times in shows and he hit the nail the first time but overstepped the mark on the odd occasion on the second. However, taste is a very subjective thing so you may find that he is more extreme towards either pole.
Oddly, I saw him in the Falklands many years ago and his act for a military audience was 'cleaner' than the other shows I mentioned and seemed the better for it. That is IMHO of course and believe me, I am no prude. All in all, yep, I would go and see him again. He is crude at times but is funny and original for the majority of the show. Hi is also a lot older than when I saw him last so I wouldn't be surprised if his comedy has mellowed with his age dilbert

I tend to find that to me, offence depends on intent. Jim Davidson strikes me as a comic who believes every word he says, and that unsettles me - but that's just the measuring stick I use. The guy seems to have plenty of comic timing.

For me, he is in the same category as Bernard Manning and Chubby Brown. Namely, the 'completely shit' category. The bloke is a misogynistic, racist retard and a national embarrassment.

So... opinions are sought on Jim Davidson, and replies on Gordon Brown are returned.
![]() Oookaaaayyy...... Is it possible that the two are linked in some way ? Maybe fans of Davidson feel the closest they can get to publicly stating their support for him is to attack what, in cloud cuckoo land, might be perceived as a polar opposite ? Kind of like Mags saying he can't stand Ben Elton, and then getting replies calling Thatcher a cnut ? ...or am I applying too much psychology to this so early on a Friday morning with a hangover ? Mmmm... breakfast.... |

When i was a teenager my family went to see Jim in pantomime. I had already decided he was unfunny and unpleasant ( all that 'chalky' stuff for a start) and refused to go. they brought me a 'Nick Nick' t-shirt back and i refused to wear that. I'm sure my family just saw me as a petulant youth but I look back at this incident with some pride. i have watchd him on tv, including the interview he did with Piers Morgan, and just find him ( Jim) hatefull.

I find JD extremely offensive. Him personally, not the jokes so much.
If the jokes were tempered with some irony (yeah right) or had a redeeming punchline worth the agony of sitting through the shockingly outdated delivery it wouldn't be so bad. The FIL (ex military) loves him. He would bring the latest JD video for us to watch on the thankfully rare occasions he would visit from Leeds. In the end we couldn't take it anymore and had to to tell him the truth, that we couldn't stand him (JD that is) I don't know if it's directly because of that, but he hasn't visited us now for two years so there is some good to be gotten out of it.
