Default Gas , but is it too expensive..???

I want it but just a bit wary of the price - other than the anniversary bits is it any different to a standard..???

Interesting - I have one of those (except right-handed). It's the same finish with the same hardware and the fancy neckplate etc, but it also has the S1 switch in the volume knob. I thought they all did - and I could be wrong but I reckoned it might be worth pointing out. EDIT: my bad - I see they made three 50th Strats - a Standard, a Deluxe and a Custom, hence the difference. Sorry.

I bought mine from Flying Pig Music in Hanwell in 2004 and, from memory, it cost me £900. I tried another Deluxe Strat (non-anniversary) on the same day and it was exactly the same - any slight differences were no greater than what you might find from any two same-spec guitars from the same production line.

I can't offer you a pro's review (I wish I could), but as an amateur player, I can wholeheartedly say I love it. I've heard and played other Strats that have sounded more, well, 'Stratty' to me where mine seems a bit warmer - perhaps even a bit flabbier, which could put you off. However, I'd never wanted a Strat but I fell in love with mine.

I also have a LP Std and a Japanese Mustang reissue. I'd like one of those two guitars to be my favourite because they look cooler to my eye, but the Strat is the one that I can just get lost in and lose a couple of hours to in the blink of an eye.

Not my cup of tea. Its left handed

Actually I think I prefer a Rosewood board with that kind of finish. I think maple looks better on white or black bodies.

Im not a Fender expert though so dont listen to me

Bottom line- It takes motor skills and practice to develop fast clean playing but a brain to use it wisely and rock guitarists are still recovering from the 80's.

so Im guessing thats just the standard then, in which case being 2nd hand Id def say overpriced.

Agree with the rosewood neck though, but I think thats really for the 62 replica which tbh is what Ive been after, but cant find any under £1000....

I do quite like the feel of maple though. I was speaking from purely an aesthetic (sp?) point of view.

Original information (with US prices) here if they're of any use. Pics seem to have been lost.

Weren't the 60th aniv models out last year?

What's this Strat? Is it a NOS model that's been lying around or is there another anniversary that I'm not aware off?

thanks for that but that really means its either a standard american (£450 second hand) or the last one listed there.

Ive seen a really nice jap strat too for £475, but dont know whether its the cheapo version...
